I' ’ve just completed my 1000 workout, I started in September 2019 and it took 2 1/2 yrs to get to this point.

Most of my workouts have been at Fit Club North while some have been on the virtual platform.

Absolutely the biggest changes have been my endurance, physical shape, weight, body image, I’m in the best shape of my life now.

My heart rate no longer skyrockets, I don’t mind seeing myself in a mirror or am I embarrassed to go shirtless in the summer, I went from an xl to a medium, and have stayed at a medium to this day, and now I can actually run and play sports close to what l used to be able to do years ago. I’m happy with that.

Aside from Covid my biggest obstacles has been injuries and available time. A shoulder injury has prevented me from working out at 100% on some things and work limited my availability, but now that I’m retired and also going for surgery soon, I now can workout on the blue more often and will soon be able to push myself further as well. I plan my day around my workouts now. It’s a priority for me.

My 3 contributing factors in starting this journey were

-motivation to get back into shape,

-being healthy for my kids and Cheryl and

-not wanting to quit sports.

I didn’t like what I had become, I was in horrible shape and wanted to to be able to look in a mirror without disgust. The Fit Club program help make that happen.

I wanted to enjoy growing old and retiring, being able to help my kids with their projects, being in shape for Cheryl, and get out and do things with them and contribute to life.

Also sports, I couldn’t play hockey, baseball or frisbee anymore but now I’m back doing all of that and more.

I’d like to thank RJ and the coaches at Fit Club and Cheryl.

The coaches and their dedication to making you better every day, the variety of workouts, and their energy while working and the energy in the room are huge motivational factors. 1% better everyday.

And of course Cheryl, being able to do this with her has been awesome, she’s my rock, as we both wanted to be better this was a perfect solution, this was and is our challenge together.

My advice to my past self would be, don’t let yourself go, but if you do, don’t give up, battle back, get healthy, find what works for you and be the best you can at whatever it is you do. Make it a priority in your life.

Sometimes you’ll be disappointed in your lack of results but eventually things start to change for the better. Trust the process.

I joined Fit Club after having my second daughter. I realized being a little older, bouncing back to pre-pregnancy form wasn’t as easy as the first time. And I needed something more than the elliptical.

Since joining, the changes from my first workout, to my 100th and now my 1000th workout are immeasurable. My energy level, my mobility, my strength and my activities with our girls. And the nutritional side, learning about macros and making better food choices.

Getting to 1000 workouts hasn’t been a smooth road for me. Inconsistency has been my biggest downfall. There have been some career/job changes, I have a part-time evening and weekend job that I enjoy doing, raising young children, of course, the struggles of covid – getting and recovering from covid, and then getting it again, plus a few injuries over the past few years.

On the flip side, the best parts of this journey and what made it successful for me is the coaches, the members, and having a partner.

Each coach offers a positive, safe, environment where you feel comfortable being there. Having Jenn in the morning and her energy, her encouragement and her drive, makes my mornings. I don’t know if I would still be a 5 am’er if it wasn’t for her.

The members, I have made some really great friends here, we are together on blue and outside.

Since getting Brian to join with me, has boosted my motivation to come here and make it a routine. We push each other, challenge each other, make fun of each other. Friday night date night.

Looking back, I don’t think I would change how I became a member, because 5-10 years ago, I wasn’t ready to make a difference. I live a healthier lifestyle for my children and for myself. They see how hard we work and how sweaty we get. And they want to do it too.

And for anyone else, who thinks this isn’t for you, you would be surprised. It isn’t the workout that is the hard part, it’s the first time walking through the door.

I Remember My First Day at Fit Club

Where do I begin

I have been active my entire life

Ran 2 marathons in my younger years

Weight has always been an issue!

In 1996 I married my best friend and we have been together 26 years

In 1997 I was pregnant with my first child

It became a nightmare when I delivered my son and he passed away

And the weight stayed with me

Food was comfort

We were told not to have children and against all odds, we were blessed with 2 girls

1 in 1999

1 in 2000

Pregnancies were close together and the weight stayed I was embarrassed to be 268 pounds.

Joined a gym so our family could go and be active

The weight stayed the same

In 2005 we were hit with some shocking news that ripped my heart into pieces

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis

The thoughts that ran through my head were. .....

OMG going to end up in a wheelchair with a 5-year-old and a 4-year-old

I was devastated, to say the least

After several doctors appointments and a tonne of medication, I am doing well

I remember my first day at Fit Club

I drove by it several times and thought I should try it

And then drove by again

But this time I stopped to ask questions...and before I knew it I was coming for my first class

And the as Jenn says...I drank the Kool-aid and have been hooked ever since

I started doing 3 classes a week

Then progressed to 5 and now I do at least 7 to 8 classes a week.

With the pandemic, things certainly changed

It was a tough time working in an essential service place and not knowing what was going to happen.

I tried the virtuals but just couldn't get into them.

So when the gym opened I was so excited and started back.

I changed careers in 2021 left a company after nearly 20 years and joined a new place!

I can't even begin to think of all the people I have met through the gym

Some have become very important in my life. Christine Omeniuk is the best workout partner I could have. She is my saviour

She sees me struggling and is there to help me. She convinced me to try the belly Burn 9.0 and it was such an amazing experience

To all of you...u make getting up in the morning worth it. Thanks for the outpouring of support

You are all my heroes

To family thanks for believing in me

Your support means the world to me

And to the coaches of Fit Club

You truly are a tremendous team

Jenn your early morning energy is contagious and u just make working out fun

Thank you for your help when I need it

And to those of u thinking about joining a gym

If u have limitations and feel u wouldn't fit in

Just give it a try u might be surprised at what u can do.
